Frequently Asked Questions regarding our firewood
How do I know my wood is truly "ready to burn"?
Unlike "seasoned" wood that can still be damp in the center, every piece of Duffco firewood is moisture-tested before it leaves our yard. We guarantee a low moisture content that ensures your fire lights easily and burns hot.
What is the difference between a "Driveway Drop" and "Stacked Delivery"?
Driveway Drop: We use a dump truck or trailer to deliver the wood to your specified, accessible location. Please note this results in a loose pile; it is not a hand-stacked delivery.
Stacked Delivery: Our premium service. We manually move the wood from the vehicle and stack it neatly in your designated woodshed, garage, or rack.
Are there extra fees for difficult stacking locations?
To keep our pricing fair, our standard stacking fee covers reasonable access. If the stacking location requires walking long distances (e.g., around a large property) or moving wood up/down stairs, an additional labor fee may apply. We will always discuss and confirm these details with you prior to delivery so there are no surprises.
Do you offer custom firewood lengths?
Yes. Our firewood is precision-cut to the industry-standard 16" length, the perfect fit for most stoves and fireplaces. We can accommodate larger or smaller cuts upon request. Please note that cuts smaller than 16" require extra processing time and incur a small additional fee.
What exactly are "Mill Ends" and how should I use them?
Mill ends are the irregular "rounds" from the ends of our logs. They don’t meet our aesthetic or size standards for premium firewood, but they are the exact same high-quality wood. They are perfect for shop stoves or outdoor pits where uniform stacking isn't a priority.
What are the requirements for a Log Truck delivery?
Our self-loading trucks are heavy (approx. 22 tons) and use a large grapple arm. We need a firm, flat surface for unloading, enough room for the truck to maneuver or turn around, and - most importantly - clearance from overhead power lines.
Where does Duffco wood come from?
We are proud to support Montana’s timber industry. We partner with local logging companies to salvage "dead-standing" timber and logs that aren't mill-grade. We only select Grade-A logs to ensure your firewood is the best in the region.
